Session 1: Pop Art Portraiture
Use the digital art lesson plans in TechnoPhotos, to turn your students into pop artists. The digital art lesson plans explain how to create digital art using the FREE photo editing software PhotoFiltre.
Session 2: Pop Art Silk-Screens
Pop artist Andy Warhol made silk-screens of photos. He would paint directly on silk to create a unique image. To gain an understanding of this style, students view a number of Warhol samples. Students take notice of the characteristics common to all the paintings
Session 3: Pop Culture
Andy Warhol used the soup can as inspiration for his art. In the same way, students will use common objects from popular culture to transform their portrait into a billboard that expresses their personality.
Session 4: Pop Art Letters
The final piece of art is inspired by the work of Robert Indiana and Jasper Johns, American artists who used letters and numbers as their subject matter. Students again view samples of this style, provided with the project resources, before they complete their own creative work.
